A review of the 2009 ABN AMRO Men’s Champions Trophy by the numbers.
1 – Australia’s number 1 Jamie Dwyer was voted 2009 WorldHockey player of the year.
3 – Three players scored a hat-trick at Melbourne 2009: Grant Schubert (AUS) vs NED, Pau Quemada (ESP) vs Korea and Nam Hyun-Woo (KOR) vs Spain.
3 – The least number of goals scored in a single match at Melbourne 2009 Australia – England 2-1 and Netherlands – Korea 1-2.
6.56 – Average number of goals scored per match at Melbourne 2009. This is the second highest goal scoring average in CT history after 6.94 goals per match in 2003.

10 – Australia became the first team to collect 10 Champions Trophy titles.
10 - Australia beat Spain 10-3 to become the first team ever to score 10 goals in a Champions Trophy match.
13 – Australia’s 10-3 win over Spain broke the all-time record for most goals scored in a Champions Trophy match.
15 – Teun de Nooijer (NED) equalled Jeroen Delmee’s (NED) record for most CT participations (15). De Nooijer has been present at every Champions Trophy since 1995.
30 - Australia made their 30th Champions Trophy appearance at Melbourne 2009. Australia only missed out on the 2004 event.
31 – Melbourne hosted the 31st edition of the Men’s Champions Trophy. The Champions Trophy was first held in 1978.
45 - Taeke Taekema (NED) broke Sohail Abbas’ (PAK) all-time record for most CT goals. Taekema is now on 45 goals in the competition.
45 – Number of different players to have scored at least once at Melbourne 2009.
109 - Number of penalty corners awarded, 43 of which were converted (39%).
118 – The number of goals scored at Melbourne 2009. This is only the fourth CT edition to see over 100 goals being scored, following 2007 (146 goals in 32 matches), 1980 (136 goals in 21 matches) and 2003 (125 goals in 18 matches). 171 - Australia have played a record 171 matches in Champions Trophy competition (91 wins – 36 draws - 44 defeats).
